4-7.      STEPHEN4 CLAYSON (WILLIAM3, JOHN2, WILLIAM1) was born 17 July 1825, and buried 20 Aug 1917, St. Margaret’s Kent.  He married JANE WEEKS (Wicks)

            08 Apr 1849 in The Church in the Parish of St Margaret’s in the Country of Kent, daughter of DANIEL WEEKS (Wicks) and SARAH BUTLER.  She was born

            Bef. 22 Feb 1829 in Colerne, Wiltshire, and christened 22 Feb 1829; and buried 26 Mar 1907 in St Margaret’s-at-Cliffe, Kent. NB At the time of his wedding

            Stephen was described as a labourer and lived in New Street, Dover. In the 1861, 1891 and 1901 census, he was an agricultural labourer. He was         

            described  as a farmer in his son's wedding certificate in 1870.  NBB Jane Weeks lived in York Street, Dover. In the 1881 census, she was a laundress.

 

5-4.     STEPHEN5 CLAYSON (STEPHEN4, WILLIAM3, JOHN2, WILLIAM1) was born 22 Nov 1852 in St Margaret's, Kent, and died 02 Jul 1937 in Margate, Kent, Buried 06 Jul 1937, Margate, Kent.  He married (1) MARY ANN HINTON 24 Jun 1878 in Thanet, Kent, daughter of GEORGE HINTON and MARIA SELLING.  She was born 22 Dec 1846 in Canterbury, Kent, and died 06 Feb 1887 in Margate, Kent.  He married (2) ALICE ELIZABETH OFFEN 02 Nov 1889 in Margate, Kent, daughter of RICHARD OFFEN and JANE MORRISON.  She was born 27 Oct 1866 in Ramsgate, Kent, and died 16 Jun 1892 in Margate, Kent.  He married (3) PHOEBE RHODA CACKETT 23 Dec 1894 in Canterbury, Kent.  She was born 30 Nov 1861 in Canterbury, Kent, and died 1946.  NB Stephen was coxswain of the Margate lifeboat.  He was married three times.

             ii.        ALICE SARAH6 CLAYSON, b. 28 Sep 1880, Margate, Kent; d. 21 Aug 1949, Barnet.

             iii.       MARY ANN HINTON6 CLAYSON, b. 15 Jun 1882, Margate, Kent.

             iv.      STEPHEN GEORGE6 CLAYSON, b. 21 Feb 1884, Margate, Kent; d. 10 Nov 1961; m. ALICE ELIZA ATKINSON. NB Stephen had 11 children, all of 

                      whom were born in Ilford, Essex or poplar in the East of London.

             v.       ETHEL MAUD6 CLAYSON, b. 23 Dec 1889, Margate, Kent.
